2.2 Structure of a process

Structure of a process

Process ID: Unambiguous identifier of a process, e.g. MAN.3

Process Name: E.g., Project Management

Process Purpose: Short description of the purpose of the process

Process Outcomes: A list of process results when the process has been implemented successfully

Note: Outcomes can have notes which illustrate the outcomes but sometimes also clarify their demands.

Base Practices: These are recommendations for action of a process which ensure that the outcomes are achieved. They are required to achieve level 1 for a process. Between Base Practices and Outcomes exists a n:m relationship. Which Base Practice addresses which outcome is shown in brackets. The identifier of a base practice is formed by the following principle: .BP , for example, “MAN.3.BP1, MAN.3.BP2, …”.

Note: Base Practices can have notes which give examples or illustrations.
Sometimes they state more detailed requirements such as: “At minimum,
project attributes of resources, effort and schedule (planned, actual and
remaining) should be monitored by the project.”

Output Work Products: The output work products produced by a process
are suggestions. They have an identifier (“WP ID”), a name and a reference
to the Process Outcomes which are relevant for the Output Work Product.
Example: “08-19 Risk management plan [Outcome 5]”.
